Why is it that life can bring us down so quickly, and it usually happens when we are going after something that we really want.
Because we are triggered by negative thinking, our past is full of ups and down and your mind is there to protect us. It has for thousands of years, well maybe not your mind, but the mind.
When you have gone through something in the past that hurt you, your mind sees that through your reticular activating system or your RAS, and it is there to protect you.
You may even wonder why you would need protection from a little thing that happened in your past but your mind doesn’t care if it was a big thing or a little thing it just wants to protect you, it comes from when people had to always protect themself from saber tooth tigers and those types of predators, and it really hasn’t evolved.
So you and I have to evolve ourselves by protecting what we think, expecitally about ourselves.
Now today I wanted to give you a few tips that you can use to begin to protect your mind, because when you aren't protecting your mind it can cause you to get into a state like depression, anxiety or even PTSD.
But if you are protecting your mind, you know that all of those things that you are worried about for your future or those negative thoughts that are moving forward from your past and
trying to protect you really aren't going to happen.
Think about this how many times have you thought or worried about something and it never happened, I know that is something I am constantly working on and here is how I do it.
TIP #1
When a negative thought tries to come in my head I begin to prove it wrong and find more positive scenarios. That is one thing that my wife always comments about.
From being a correctional officer for over decade, I was always playing scenarios, those hyper-vigilant scenarios that we play to protect ourselves and our partners.
But being in an environment like a prison, that makes sense. When it comes to the real world, not as much protection is needed, So i really play the game of when i think about a negative scenario
I ask myself well what is the reality that this will actually come to pass, will actually happen, my answer usually is no and it will work out.
Also look around, when was the last time you looked at the way others are living, read about the biography of someone who was successful when they started out not. A lot of my negative thought battles are won because of the knowledge that I have gained from reading books like, think and grow rich, or rich dad poor dad, the power of your subconscious mind, millionaire success habits or even the underdog advantage.
So when you are going through a negative thought pattern about your future, about what happens if.
Change from a negative to a positive. That brings me to
Tip #2
Change your negative thought to a positive thought. When you mind wonders and you are wondering well what if this happens. You can do 1 of 2 things.
You can say to yourself well if it happens then I can solve it by this and this.
Or you can say “the likelihood of that actually happening is very slim and it probably won't happen, but this could and put in a positive thought.
Let's put money into the scenario, let's say you are getting close to the end of the month and rent is coming due, but you are so tight on money that you don’t know that when you pay rent if you will be able to afford groceries.
What kind of thoughts could go through your head, well we could be without food, or maybe we are going to have to sell our house and go bankrupt, and live on the street.
You see, thoughts can go down a real negative path if you let it. But if you change your way of thinking, if we make it to the end of the month and have no money to pay rent, well i could change jobs, or ask for a raise. I could buy different groceries, maybe those coffees I get everyday aren’t for the best, I could cut costs, ask for a loan at the bank. Move into a smaller place.
There have been so many times in my life that I felt that maybe we weren't going to last but it always worked out, money just seemed to come from somewhere.
God is always watching out for you whether you believe it or not.
So what are the tips we have so far.

Tip #2 - Change your negative thought to a positive thought
Now my final tip is to Feed your mind more positive than negative thoughts. When I am immersed in books or meditation /prayer and growing myself everyday, my negative thoughts don’t have the room to come in.
I am not saying they don’t try, I just use the tools that I have mentioned to eliminate them from my mind, to find purpose and know that those thoughts aren’t real.
They aren’t going to move me to where I want to go.
You hear of stories everyday of people going from nothing to something, and it isn’t easy for them to do, but they work harder on themselves than they do anything else.
And that is my challenge to you, pick up more books, even if they are audio books, fill your head with more positive than negative and slowly your negative thoughts won't fit.
Life is all about balance and if you are just constantly listening or focusing on the negative your life is going to be out of balance,
Life is full of so much negativity, just look around. But it is filled with so much positivity, beauty and when you take the time, you will see how perfect your life actually is.
